SubjectNumber of partitions to be increased from 4 to 6 in equity and equity derivatives segment.
Content

Trading members may note that currently there are 4 partitions in equity and equity derivatives segment. Each partition is serving a set of products. It is proposed to increase the number of partitions from 4 to 6 effective from June 10, 2019.  This would mean that from June 10, 2019 trading will happen in 6 partitions for all the products.

The partition information is also provided in equity segment’s scrip master file (SCRIP_DDMMYYY.txt) under the column 5 (Partition ID and Product ID). Similarly, the same information is provided in equity derivatives master file (EQD_CODDMMYY.csv) under column 13(Partition ID).

Impact on ETI based applications

All ETI applications which are making use of partition ID for retransmission of orders, trades and other messages which are partition oriented will have to make necessary changes to query for 6 partitions instead of 4.

The number of partition information is also part of Session logon response (Template ID 10001) message of ETI API.

Impact on IML based applications

All IML based applications which are making use of partition ID in their applications, for query such as incremental trade query (1085), trade enhancement request (1080) etc. will have to make necessary changes to query for 6 partitions instead of 4.

The number of partition information is also part of User logon reply message (1131) of IML API.

Also, kindly note that exchange will gradually move few products from existing 4 partitions to partition 5 and 6 over period of time.  The change of partition will be updated in the scrip_DDMMYY.txt file and EQD_CODDMMYY.csv whenever a product is moved from one partition to another.

Impact on EMDI/ EOBI

The movement of product will have impact on the existing EOBI/EMDI stream. We have partition wise EOBI/ EMDI multicast streams and thus movement of product from one partition to other would mean that the market data for that product will not be available from the multicast stream of the partition where it originally belonged and it will be available from the multicast stream of the new partition where it has been moved. Refer the BOLTPLUS Configuration file for details on partition wise multicast stream of EMDI and EOBI.

All members are requested to make necessary changes in their EOBI/EMDI applications if any, for the above continual activity of product movement.
