Sub: Revision w.r.t Client Categories in Unique Client Code database
This is to inform all Trading Members that, in order to facilitate ease of identification of NRE and NRO clients, the Exchange is creating new investor categories in UCC database.
The Client Category "NRI" in the Unique Client Code (UCC) database shall be treated as "NRE" (Non-Resident External) w.e.f. November 22, 2025.
Another investor category “NRO” shall be available to facilitate client classification for Non-Resident Ordinary.
Trading Members are advised to ensure that all client records are updated accordingly in the UCC database.
The revised classification of UCC file structure is as follows:

Requisite changes may be undertaken in the existing client categories. No change is required, in case the UCC has been created for NRE account.
Trading Members are requested to complete the necessary updates. The above-mentioned changes will be made available on UCC module w.e.f. November 22, 2025.
