Change in Methodology to the BSE Indices

MUMBAI, AUGUST 01, 2025: BSE Index Services Private Ltd (formerly Asia Index Pvt. Ltd.) announces the following methodology changes to the BSE Indices.

Constituent Selection

1. At each semi-annual rebalancing, eligible companies must satisfy all of the following in order to be considered for index inclusion.
a. Have an annualized traded value greater than or equal to INR 100 crores. Current index constituents with an annualized traded value of at least INR 80 crores remain eligible for index inclusion provided they meet the other eligibility criteria.
b. Stocks must have traded for at least 80% of the trading days at BSE during the six-month reference period.

1.  At each semi-annual rebalancing, eligible companies must satisfy all of the following in order to be considered for index inclusion
A.  To be considered for index inclusion, stocks must rank in the top 750 stocks in the eligible universe based on annualized traded value.
B.  To be considered for index inclusion, stocks must rank in the top 750 stocks in the eligible universe based on 6 months average free float market capitalization. The index aims to have a company count of 500 at each rebalancing. If a shortfall occurs, point B would be relaxed in increments of 100 until a target count of eligible universe is reached.
C.   Stocks must have traded for at least 80% of the trading days at BSE during the six-month reference period.

The index is derived from the constituents of the BSE AllCap Index

The index is derived from the constituents of the BSE 1000 Index.

Accounting based screens

After removing companies with business non-compliant activities, the remaining companies are further examined for compliance with the following threshold on an ongoing basis.
1. Debt / Total Asset < 25%
2. Non-Permissible Revenue (including all Interest Incomes) / Total Revenue < 4%
