BSE gets SEBI approval to launch “BSE–BOND”- Electronic Book Mechanism for issuance of debt securities on private placement

Mumbai, June 21, 2016: BSE, Asia’s oldest exchange and now world’s fastest exchange with the speed of 6 microseconds, gets another feather in its hat by receiving SEBI’s accord to launch Electronic Book Mechanism (EBM) for issuance of debt securities on private placement.

This mechanism would help in streamlining the procedures for issuance of debt securities on private placement basis. Known as BSE–BOND (BSE Bidding Online for Debt), this would ensure transparency while dealing in debt securities.

As per SEBI circular CIR/IMD/DF1/48/2016 dated 21 April, 2016, this Mechanism would come into effect from July 01, 2016. Any issuer can use the Electronic Book Mechanism. However, an issuer coming out with an issue of more than Rs.500 Crore (inclusive of the green shoe option) would have to mandatorily use this Mechanism.

Benefits of using BSE-BOND Platform:

ü  Efficient price discovery

ü  Reduction in timelines

ü  Cost effective

ü  User-friendly

ü  Confidentiality of data and bids would be maintained
