- Compact Towers to reduce Right Of Way

- Use of fixed & variable Series Compensator (FACTS) for enhancing the power transfer capability of existing transmission lines

9. Technologies for Future:

POWERGRID has taken leadership position in development of new technologies in transmission sector for long term power transfer requirement from large generating station to distantly located load centers In this direction, POWERGRID is developing;

- +800kv, 6000 MW, HVDC Bipole

- 1200 kV AC Transmission System
* Preliminary Line design studies undertaken & Tower Configuration evolved

- High Surge Impedance Loading (HSIL) Line

- Large Scale Automation of Sub-stations
