The Stock Exchange, Mumbai (BSE) partners with the Zee Telefilms Limited to increase Investor Awareness

The Stock Exchange, Mumbai (BSE) signed an agreement with the Zee Telefilms Limited on November 22, 2001 to increase investor awareness through a television series. This series would be telecast on the educational channel Zed, TV. The 26 part series is slated to go on air towards the end of January. The network also plans to run a number of infomercials on its other channels including Zee News towards this purpose.

Commenting on the agreement, Dr.Manoj Vaish - Deputy Executive Director, BSE said that "With the plethora of investment opportunities and financial instruments available in the market, the options available to the ordinary investor are many. The series on Investor Awareness on Zed TV is to educate the investor on these options and enable him to make a rational and informed choice."

Speaking on the occassion, Mr. Sandeep Goyal - Group Broadcasting CEO, Zee Network said, "Education is a vital part of our broadcasting bouquet and our aim is to provide information and learning that people can use. The series to be made in association with the BSE is a step in that direction. We plan to create other such series aimed at key sectors of the economy such as insurance, pharmaceutical sales, retail management in association with Trade Bodies, Industry Associations, and Government Agencies."

The 26 part series on Investment Awareness - will be the complete guide to investment within India. The teams from The Stock Exchange, Mumbai (BSE) and ZED TV - would work out a step-by-step guide to sensible investment - which would then be televised. Starting with how the stock exchange functions, to various instruments available for investment such as derivatives, options, and mutual funds. The airing of the series begins in the last two months of the financial year - when most people look at investing.

The series aims to answer many of the questions that today's investor has using a number of case studies, role plays and expert inputs. The series would try and demystify the entire investment process for the ordinary citizen - who invests for a better future. The programme aims to involve a number of luminaries from the financial sector to help provide information to the viewer that would enable them to make more informed financial investment decisions.

The Investor awareness series forms a part of the Zee Network's initiative to provide meaningful infotainment to a discerning audience.
