SURVEILLANCE MEASURES AT BSE BSE has imposed Special Margin, which is scrip specific, on 228 scrips till January 10, 2000. Special Margin is in addition to Daily Margin (at the rates applicable) and the Additional Volatility Margin that a scrip may attract. Further, 392 scrips are attracting Additional Volatility Margin for the settlement no. 43/1999-2000 commencing from January 10, 2000. BSE has also reduced circuit filters from their normal levels in 149 scrips. The circuit filter is reduced by the Exchange wherever there is a price rise on low volumes. The Exchange has also advised the members and their clients the names of further 27 companies who have obtained or are in process of obtaining permission from the Registrar of Companies to change their name which suggests that their interest is in software industry (A list of the companies is given below). These measures are taken by the BSE to safeguard the interests of the investors and to protect the safety and integrity of the market.
