BSE commemorates 127 years on July 9, 2002
The Stock Exchange, Mumbai (BSE) completed 127 years on July 9, 2002. To commemorate the occasion, the Exchange would be launching two first of its kind investor initiatives in the country:
Dr. Vaish, Deputy Executive Director, BSE says, "We plan to take several new steps in investor education and protection. We have already launched an investor awareness campaign where we have prepared a checklist of Do's and Don'ts for the investor as a ready reckoner. This has been carried in advertisements in major English dailies / periodicals." He adds, "We also plan to distribute over one lakh copies free of an Investor Guide. We also plan to conduct more than 100 investor awareness programmes this year outside Mumbai." The launch will be followed by a talk by Swami Parthasarathy, one of the greatest exponents of the Vendata Philosophy on "Life in Focus." He has a multi disciplined academic base which includes post graduation from London University. He has devoted over forty years to the study, research and propagation of Vedanta. His discourses have earned him international eminence. The Exchange with its nation-wide presence of 380 cities and 7536 trading terminals offers a wide-range of products, that set several new standards and benchmarks - an efficient trading platform, lower transaction costs, highest delivery ratio and best risk management systems. The Exchange is home to the world's largest number of listed companies, and has been India's first to introduce derivatives, develop a free-float index, create an Internet trading platform and set up an exclusive training centre that imparts knowledge and know-how on capital markets. Dr. Vaish states, "Swamiji's profound knowledge of the philosophy of life and living is evident in his discourses and writings. His incisive logic and clear presentation have inspired and captivated audiences around the world. He inculcates in them higher values which generate peace, prosperity and harmony. And motivates them to recognize the mission and purpose of life." A Shree Satyanarayan Maha Pooja was organised at 9 a.m. this morning. The ceremony was for the employees and members of the Exchange.
