The Stock Exchange, Mumbai launches

BSEwebx.com, world's first exchange enabled system for Internet trading was launched by Hon'ble Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Shri Pramod Mahajan today. BSEwebx.com aims to reinforce the leadership position of The Stock Exchange, Mumbai, the Nerve Center of Indian Capital Markets, aims at providing end-to-end capital market services under one roof viz.

  • Content,
  • Wired and Wireless Internet Trading, and
  • Payment and Depository Interfaces.

BSEwebx.com will provide a platform for all market participants including Investors, Member Brokers, Depositories, Banks and related entities to integrate into one seamless, self sustaining e-biz ecosystem. The Centralised Internet Trading Platform will support the following in a phased manner:-

  • Multi-product capabilities
  • Multi-mode delivery mechanisms and
  • Multi-exchange routing,

The New Economy has brought in a paradigm shift in the way business is being conducted worldwide. No other industry has caught on with the Internet and the wireless fever as much as the Financial services industry, more so the stock markets.

The inagural trade was placed by Shri Pramod Mahajan through the BSE member, Asit C Mehta Intermediaries
(Clearing Number No.3).

The Member Brokers registered with BSEwebx.com are presently around 200 and more applications are in the process. The BSE has so far committed Rs. 15 crores towards this project. The members can avail of the centralized infrastructure of BSE at minimal cost without having to worry about technological obsolescence. They can now concentrate on expanding their business potential rapidly and manage their business on the Webx platform seamlessly. The registered members can also move their entire hierarchy of branches and sub brokers into this system. The system, at a future date, would provide connectivity for the payment gateway and depository for smooth settlement.

Through its 125-years' history, The Stock Exchange, Mumbai has always been amongst the pallbearers of change and has seen the entire spectrum right from its humble beginnings under the banyan tree way back in 1875 to its initiative to bring the entire trading platform to the internet and the wireless platform.
