Caution while Dealing in illiquid Scrips

It has been observed that there has been a spurt in the trading of the scrips, which were either not being traded previously or had very thin volumes. Many of these companies appear in the list of illiquid securities issued by BSE every month based on the trading activity. It is also observed that the prices of such scrips have moved to a higher level with small quantities being traded.

While some of the companies may have reported improved financials, there may be companies, which may not have any such improvement in their business activity. The investing public is requested to study performance of companies especially the scrips that are part of the list of illiquid securities identified by BSE before dealing in such scrips. If a spurt in the volume/price is noticed, please exercise caution while dealing in such scrips.

While BSE is carrying out the above exercise regularly, it may also take appropriate action, including suspension of trading in the scrips, if the trading activity is found to be done in collusion by any person to defraud investors.

This is being issued in the interest of investing public in general.
