Data File Weekly

The data file contains observations of all households that are surveyed and accepted in the week. Each household is uniquely identified by an identity number. The first row in the data file contains variable names (column headers). Each row after the first row of the data file consists of observations of one household. Variables in the data file used for the estimation are described below:
  • HH_ID: This is a unique identifier of a household
  • COUNTRY: This specifies the country, in which the household is located.
  • STATE: This corresponds to the states of India, in which the household is located.
  • HR: This corresponds to Homogenous Region number.
  • TOWN_VILLAGE: Village number in case of rural regions and town number in case of urban regions.
  • REGION_TYPE: This indicates whether the household is in rural or urban regions.
  • SURVEY_STATUS: This is the status of survey for a household whether it was 'Accepted' by the ORV team.
  • FPC_REGION_HR_INDIA_REGTYPE: This is the number of urban Homogeneous region (surveyed and non-surveyed) in urban India or the number of rural Homogeneous region (surveyed and non-surveyed) in rural India as per Census 2011, depending on whether REGION_TYPE is urban or rural, respectively.
  • FPC_REGION_TV_HR_REGTYPE: This is the number of towns (surveyed and non-surveyed) in the urban Homogeneous region or the number of villages (surveyed and non-surveyed) in the rural Homogeneous region as per Census 2011, depending on whether REGION_TYPE is urban or rural, respectively.
  • FPC_REGION_HH_TV: This is the estimated number of households (surveyed and non-surveyed) in a town or a village (surveyed and non-surveyed) as per Census 2011, depending on whether the REGION_TYPE is urban or rural, respectively.
  • HH_WEIGHT_INDIA_REGTYPE_ACC: This is the weight attached to each household for weekly estimations. For urban regions, it is the ratio of the estimated population of households to the surveyed households in urban India in the week. And for rural regions, it is the ratio of the estimated population of households to the surveyed households in rural India in the week.
  • CONSENTI_QUESTION_1_RESPONSE: The household can choose between three options-Better, Same, Worse.
  • CONSENTI_QUESTION_2_RESPONSE: The household can choose between three options-Better, Same, Worse.
  • CONSENTI_QUESTION_3_RESPONSE: The household can choose between three options- Good times, uncertain times, Bad times.
  • CONSENTI_QUESTION_4_RESPONSE: The household can choose between three options-Continuously Good times, Uncertain with ups and down, continuously bad times.
    1. GENDER: The gender of a person. This is a binary response.
    2. AGE_YRS: The age in years of a person. This is a numeric variable.
    3. AGE_MTH: The age in months of a person. This is a numeric variable.
Dummy Variables
Each response recorded for each of the five questions in the raw data file is assigned a dummy variable. For each question, the response chosen by the household is assigned a value of 1. The other response then receives a value of 0. These are:
  • QUESTION_1_BETTER: The favourable response receives a value of 1 when the household chooses the option-"BETTER". It is denoted as X1.
  • QUESTION_1_WORSE: The unfavourable response receives a value of 1 when the household chooses the option-"WORSE". It is denoted as Y1.
  • QUESTION_2_BETTER: The favourable response receives a value of 1 when the household chooses the option-"BETTER". It is denoted as X2.
  • QUESTION_2_WORSE: The unfavourable response a value of 1 when the household chooses the third option-"WORSE". It is denoted as Y2.
  • QUESTION_3_GOOD_TIMES: The favourable response receives a value of 1 when the household chooses the option-"GOOD TIMES". It is denoted as X3.
  • QUESTION_3_BAD_TIMES: The unfavourable response a value of 1 when the household chooses the option-"BAD TIMES". It is denoted as Y3.
  • QUESTION_4_CONTINUOUSLY_GOOD_TIMES: The favourable response receives a value of 1 when the household chooses the option-"CONTINUOUSLY GOOD TIMES". It is denoted as X14.
  • QUESTION_4_CONTINUOUSLY_BAD_TIMES: The unfavourable response a value of 1 when the household chooses the option-"CONTINUOUSLY BAD TIMES". It is denoted as Y14.
  • QUESTION_5_GOOD_TIME: The favourable response receives a value of 1 when the household chooses the option-"GOOD TIME". It is denoted as X15.
  • QUESTION_5_BAD_TIME: The unfavourable response a value of 1 when the household chooses the third option-"BAD TIME". It is denoted as Y15.
