Comparison with NSSO Index

BSE CMIE unemployment rate is based on a large sample of more than 161,000 households in India. In comparison, the NSSO's Survey has a sample of 101,724 households. The National Sample Survey Organization (NSSO) provides estimates of employment and unemployment based on individual's activity status. Time at the disposal of a person is associated with a set of work-related activities, and distribution of time across the activities is used to determine whether the person is in the labour force, employed, unemployed or underemployed.
